CRSG Assures Cross Riverians Of Smooth Distribution Of LLINs As Distribution Sets To Commence

Cross River State is set to begin the onward distribution of the Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets across every household in the state. Every 4yrs, the United State government support Nigeria and the rest of the African States with LLINs to curb the high rate of malaria with CRS still having over 24% prevalent rate.

Preparations are in top gear to begin the onward distribution of the insecticide treated nets as USAID amongst other partners in collaboration with the state health sector begins the training of Local government Coordinators and Training and Technology Administrators (TTAs) who’ll now cascade the training at local government and wards level.

Declaring the exercise open, the Honorable Commissioner for Health Dr. Janet Ekpenyong congratulated all selected participants, thanked USAID and all other partners involved as well as the facilitators. Dr Ekpenyong charged participants to ensure positive results in the course of the exercise. “Malaria is still staging a huge burden with our state at 24% prevalent rate, we want to reduce that by ensuring everyone sleeps under an insecticide treated net with a target of about 2m households in CRS.

She thanked USAID for their regular unflinching support while appealing that participant take training seriously as they’ll be representing the state as foot soldiers to drive a smooth process.

In her message, the Director General of the cross river state primary health care development agency Deaconess Mrs. Abasioffiong Offiong charged participants to give in their best and take the training seriously as they’ll be using the very important knowledge acquired in the course of the training throughout the entire campaign. She charged everyone involved to give in their best emphasizing that it was out of grace that they made the list judging from the very many qualified hands across the state.

This year, USAID will be using a new technology called “IPOLONGO” to ease the usual manual method that has always been in a place. This is a clear indication that there’s a huge level of improvement in the health sector as this new technology makes the entire process seamless and nets can be easily traced at any point/stage.
