Ministry of Sports Development CRS Promises to Fish Out Young Talented Cross Riverians And Train Them, Reaffirms Collaboration With FAD 93.1 FM For Media Visibility

The honourable commissioner for Sports, Honourable Mrs. Agnes Atsu has said that the Cross River State Ministry of Sports is out to fish out young talents and train them in the sporting activities.

Hon. Atsu made this known during a courtesy visit by delegates of FAD 93.1 FM Calabar to her office in Calabar today.

While commending FAD 93.1 FM Calabar for a timely visit aimed at a collaborative media visibility of the Ministry, she stated that media like sports is capital intensive and must be invested in for good visibility.

“Sports is capital intensive and media is also capital intensive. I plan to sit with Media personnel and draw a means to achieve visibilities.” She said.

“The governor is passionate about sports and so we have begun a grassroots tour to help us fish out and train young Crossriverians in the sporting activities. Also, a team has been formed from the concluded governor’s cup.”
“With the passion of his excellency Prince Bassey Otu, the state is going to see something different this time around. He is running a people-inclusive administration and the youths are very critical here.”
“I assure you that we have a very cordial working relationship.” She added.

Fidelis Ubana commended the Honourable Commissioner for Sports for her doggedness and commitment to transforming the Ministry of Sports in Cross River State and also stated the readiness of FAD 93.1 FM Calabar to collaborate with The Ministry of Sports for good media visibility.

“We are here to refamiliarise ourselves with the Ministry of Sports and Development and to reintroduce ourselves to you. We believe that there are many activities your ministry is involved in, but unfortunately, most of those activities lack visibility which is one of the reasons we have paid you this visit to strengthen areas of collaboration.”

In her remark, the head of the Department of Grassroot Sports, Mrs. Rosemary Usang revealed that the Commissioner had a tour of all the Local Government Areas in the Southern Senatorial District of the state to get them acquainted with activities of the ministry for the year.

Mr Francis Idorenyin also noted that to grow the ministry in the state, it is important to catch the athletes young by going down to the grassroots to scout for them. He also expressed displeasure towards the treatment of Sports reporters in the state appealing to the Honorable Commissioner to look into it.
