Next Microfinance and Wastebuzz Clean up Lagos

Next Micro Finance in collaboration with Wastebuzz Recycling is organising a street clean up at Ilaje Bus stop, Mobile Estate Road, before Ajah Bridge, Lagos, scheduled for Saturday, 3rd of August, 2019 from 7 AM to 12 PM.

According to a press release, both organisations came together in their efforts to complement and promote sustainable development and give back to the communities in which they operate.

Segun Sodimu, Managing Director of Next Micro Finance, said: “Every time you save with us, you help contribute to a fund that assists us to tackle the pollution of our waterways caused by improper disposal of wastes, especially plastic wastes”.

Managing Director of Wastebuzz, Ola Seriki further made a statement that “Simply disposing of plastic wastes in the dustbin isn’t good enough. It is essential to see to it that it gets recycled. Doing this inevitably helps reduce the amount of plastic that ends up on our streets, clogging our gutters and drainages and in the oceans”.

Next Microfinance is a microfinance institution aimed at providing financial inclusion by providing access to financial services to the underserved and unbanked spanning from Nigeria to the rest of Africa.

Wastebuzz Recycling is dedicated to making an impact on the climate crises around the world, from this side of the world. Wastebuzz is known for its CRS and has organized other cleanups in the past.

Citizens of Ilaje community were also admonished to participate in the social effort to keep their communities clean.

Light refreshments would be served to volunteers after the cleanup.
