Ipem-Ihihe 2023: Ada Bekwarra ll Congratulates Bekwarra Nation, Says Festival a Proud Heritage

Chief Signor Omang Idiege, (Ada Bekwarra ll) has congratulated sons and daughters of Bekwarra Local Government Area on this year’s memorable New Yam celebrations.

Speaking to newsmen on Friday, Signor Idiege, who’s the leader, father and rallying point of the Bekwarra people, admonished friends & well-wishers coming to celebrate with the Bekwarra people to take advantage of the rich socio-cultural heritage of the good people of Bekwarra Local Government Area.

The Ada Bekwarra ll said the annual Ipem-Ihihe cultural festival is a platform which bring sons and daughters of Bekwarra and by extension northern Cross River to experience the culture and tradition of the people, which according to him promotes the collective peace and co-existence of the people.

“Every 1st Saturday of September, the good people of Bekwarra Local Government Area come together to celebrate the ipem-Ihihe festival.

“This celebration is special because it is our cultural identity and it preserves our unity, peace and harmony. It brings us together from far and near to identify with ourselves once again.

“I wish the Bekwarra Nation, Northern Cross River and all those coming to celebrate with our people from far and near a peaceful celebration as they arrive and journey back”, the Ada Bekwarra ll said.

Signor Idiege thanked the Paramount Ruler of Bekwarra, HRM Chief Linus Ogbeche Odey – Ushie Ebeshe Kapka ll, the Bekwarra Traditional Rulers Council and other prominent sons and daughters of Bekwarra Local Government Area for their steadfastness in sustaining this historic annual Ipem-Ihihe celebrations in which various events takes place.

He also commended other notable leaders and stakeholders of Bekwarra and beyond who have remained committed to enhance the success of the Ipem-Ihihe celebrations over the years.
