Breaking: Sen. Asuquo Ekpenyong Facilitates Establishment of Two NITDA Digital Economy Centres

Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, representing Cross River South Senatorial District, has successfully facilitated the establishment of two digital economy learning centres in the region. With these centres, the senator follows through on a campaign pledge to the youth of Cross River South on enhancing digital skills. During his campaign stop in Ehom Ward, Biase LG, the senator had promised the electorate that his first ever project as a Senator would be located in Ehom Ward, Biase LG, and with the establishment of these centres, he has followed through on that campaign promise.

The two approved schools are Biase Secondary School Ehom, Biase LG and Government Science School Idang, Calabar South LG.
This initiative aims to promote digital skills within educational institutions and rural areas across the country. It integrates Information Technology (IT) knowledge into underserved regions and urban centres, fostering human capital development and ensuring universal access to knowledge, with the ultimate goal of nurturing a knowledge-based economy.

These centres will generate digital jobs and economic growth, cultivate digital competencies, and extend broadband Internet connectivity to underserved areas, schools, libraries, and institutions. Beneficiaries are expected to utilise these facilities commercially to support maintenance and ensure the project’s sustainability.
Each Digital Economy Centre is equipped with computers, internet connectivity, Local Area Network (LAN), e-learning solutions, solar-powered inverters, generators, and other essential components. The project will be executed and completed in September 2023.

This is a central part of Senator Ekpenyong’s commitment to enhancing digital literacy in Cross River South District. In 2021, the Asuquo Ekpenyong Foundation facilitated Basic Digital Literacy for rural clusters in Cross River State, demonstrating his commitment to fostering technological proficiency in the region.
