Ayade Launches New Security Model “OPERATION AKPAKWU” In Cross River State

The government of cross river state today flagged off a special security operation “AKPAKWU” to tackle the security challenges in the state. It has been recorded that the state has been facing a series of security challenges ranging from kidnapping, robbery and other social vices.

Speaking during the event, the governor maintained that statistically, the state remains the safest blamed state in Nigeria considering the recent increase in criminal activities arising from the difficulty orchestrated by the #Endsars protestas well as COVID-19. He, however lamented bitterly over the increasing rate of crises and insecurity both at the state and national level.

According to the Governor, operation “AKPAKWU” has the backing of the federal government and has been duly equipped to carry out operations immediately. He therefore advised anyone involved in practices of any kind that threatens the life and security of the citizens to desist with immediate effect as anyone caught will face the wrath of the law.

While appealing to the youths to be patient with the government as plans are being put in place to empower them he also encouraged them to focus more on rebuilding the nation.

Speaking earlier at the event the permanent secretary security Mr. Alfred Mboto explained that the state has provided vehicles with different security information to help combat crimes.

He further revealed that the time of the state being a safe haven or dumping grounding of criminality is over.

High point of the event was the inspection of security vehicles and gadgets and also the handing over of keys to the Heads of Security parastatals.
