ASUU Strike: Finally ASUU Agrees With Federal Government To Merge IPPIS with UTAS

After a four-hour meeting between the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Federal Government, the outcome of the meeting was made known by the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige. Who stated that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and Federal Government has reached an agreement to integrate the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS). This is said is the outcome the meeting between the two parties yesterday regarding the ASUU Strike.

The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Mr. Ngige said the two parties will meet again on Monday after the ASUU delegation deliberates with its National Executive Council (NEC).

In an interview with the National President of ASUU, Biodun Ogunyemi, he mentioned that the National Executive Committee of the union will evaluate the conditions for the integration of UTAS into IPPIS.

Furthermore, Biodun Ogunyemi, the National President Assu stated that from the discussion they had, they (the delegates from ASUU) have agreed that they will go and consult. “We cannot pronounce on the proposals that came up until we consult with our members. We will leave it there for now.” According to him.

The ASUU president also said that he as the president has no power to make any pronouncement as regards the suspension of the strike until he has consulted with other members.
