UNILORIN Expels 14 Students for Examination Malpractices

The University of Ilorin, in Kwara State, has expelled 14 students for engaging in examination malpractices and other forms of misconduct. Kunle Akogun, the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, announced the expulsions in a statement on Monday.

The names of nine of the expelled students were published in the university’s weekly bulletin, released by the Information Unit of the Directorate of Corporate Affairs.

The expulsions were approved by the Vice Chancellor based on the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee at its 219th meeting held on January 10 and 11, 2024. Seven of the expelled students were in their final year, while the remaining two were in their 300 and 100 levels, respectively.

Among the expelled students are Lateef Lukman Olayemi, a 500-level student of Agriculture/Aquaculture and Fisheries; Kuranga Abdulmuiz Olalekan, a 500-level student of Agriculture/Agricultural Extension and Rural Development; and Ogundijo Abdulmalik Akinkunmi, a final year student of CIS/Library and Information Science.

Other expelled students include Ashekun Oladiji Quadri, a final year student in the department of CIS/Telecommunication Science; Musa Mohammed Asus of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology/Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Ahmed Saddam Opeyemi of Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering; and Ayinla JamiuOlaitan of the Faculty of Life Science and a 400 level student of the department of Zoology. Eqwudah Lucky Ojonumba of the Faculty of Education, department of Education /Adult and Primary Education Studies, and Adebisi Janet Bosede, a 100 Level Student from the Faculty of Arts, Linguistics and Nigerian Languages department, were also expelled.
