UNICAL VC felicitates with Muslims on Eid-el-Fitr

Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi, heartily felicitates with the Chancellor of the University, His Highness, Alh. Aminu Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano, Muslim Ummah in Nigeria especially those in the University Governing Council and the University of Calabar community on the Eid-el-Fitr Sallah celebration marking the end of the one-month Ramadan fasting.

She noted that Fasting in the month of Ramadan was aimed at strengthening the Muslim spiritual engagements of abstinence from eating, drinking, and satisfying other desires from sunset to dawn.

Reflecting on the significance of the just concluded Ramadan fasting, the VC said Muslims should internalise the lessons and good habits that came with the religious practice.

The VC urge Muslims in Nigerians to continue to pray for the sustenance of peace, security, and socio-economic prosperity of the country at large.

Prof. Obi also congratulated Muslims who were privileged to perform the lesser Hajj (Ummrah) in Saudi Arabia and wished them safe return to Nigeria.

“Let us also be reminded that the Sallah celebration is also a period of sacrifice and generosity. We should continue to be generous to our neighbours to make life more meaningful to others.

“Nigeria is the only country we can call ours, hence the citizens, especially Muslims at this time, must work together and pray assiduously for continuous peaceful coexistence among the people,” she said.
