Cross River State governor, Sir Ben Ayade has sworn in Justice Akon Ikpeme as the acting Chief Judge of the State. Speaking while swearing in the acting Chief Judge, governor Ben Ayade who was filled with excitement said he had no doubt on the competence of Justice Ikpeme.
“Let me congratulate you because as a woman, normally there are higher morals and ethics and I belief that as a mother, all of those qualities will be brought to play, given your extensive experience as read out in your CV, it’s obvious and clear that in this your tenure as the acting chief judge, Cross River State will actually see a tremendous improvement in our judicial system” Sir Ben Ayade.
Responding, the newly sworn in acting Chief Judge Justice Akon Ikpeme applauded the governor for being a father to the entire state and expressed hopes that the relationship between the relationship between executive and the judiciary shall be transparent while pledging to work in sincerity during her tenure.
“The government stands on three legs, the executive is the king and there is the legislature and the judiciary. If one leg fails, the government fails. And the king, Your Excellency is a father” according to Hon. Justice Akon Ikpeme.
