The police in Bayelsa State have confirmed the recovery of the lifeless body of a middle aged man in a brothel at the Edepie suburb of Yenagoa, the state capital.
The yet-to-be identified man was on Tuesday found dead at the brothel located along the Tombia-Amassoma road where he allegedly lodged with a commercial sex worker.
It was learned that the deceased man, aged 38, who hails from Delta State, was recuperating from stroke.
He was said to have left his home at about 8am on the fateful day to spend time at the brothel in the outskirts of Yenagoa, the state capital, when the unexpected happened.
Spokesman of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Mr. Musa Muhammed, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, confirmed the unfortunate development.
He said: “The command received a distress call from a caller that an average man of about 38 years was found dead naked in one of the rooms in a brothel along the Tombia-Amassoma road, Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
“The control room immediately dispatched Ekeki Patrol which was headed by the DPO to the scene of crime. Upon arrival they discovered the subject lying dead on the bed. All occupants of the brothel fled before the arrival of the police team.
“The deceased corpse was evacuated and deposited at the morgue of Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa for autopsy.
“Preliminary investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of the man.”
