Health Professionals in C’River State Endorse Prince Otu, Call For More Support in The Health Sector

In his determination to improve the Health Sector, the governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Sen. (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu has promised to make Healthcare more affordable, train more nurses, and equip the Primary as well as Secondary Health Facilities across the State.

Speaking during a Town Hall meeting with Health Professionals in the State, Sen. Otu mentioned that his consultation with them is basically to officially inform them of his vision for the State; especially, in the Health Sector.

“There is a robust and strategic health plan, especially in the areas of personnel training, retraining, and welfare as well as private-public partnership to build a medical corridor…” which according to him, will enhance medical tourism.

“I promise to run an inclusive government with the integration of different professionals as occasions will so demand.

The Governor hopeful noted that while there have been appreciable development efforts in the health facilities in the State capital, the rural areas need serious attention; affirming that his administration will go big on rural development.

Earlier in her remark, the Commissioner for Health, Hon. (Dr) Janet Ekpenyong described Prince Otu as “…a seasoned Entrepreneur who has, in past years demonstrated capacity, character, competence, and pedigree in previous endeavors” urging those in the health sector to mobilize votes for him and prayed that God will grant him victory at the polls.

Highlights of the event also featured an enumeration of some of the needs of the different Medical Associations, their solutions among others.

Other dignitaries who graced the occasion include Hon. (Dr) Inyang Asibong, Dr Vivien Otu – President, Medical Women Association of Nigeria, C’River State Chapter, Pastor Patrick Okon – Special Adviser on IDPs popularly known as Petido among others
