Four people were injured on Monday when a building collapsed in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to local residents, the collapse happened after heavy rainfall that began on Sunday evening and continued into early Monday morning.

A resident, Dusu Judith, confirmed the incident, stating that the house, located near Government College, Riyom, collapsed while the residents were asleep, leaving four people injured.

Judith said, “The people were sleeping when the building suddenly gave way. Thankfully, no one died, but four people, mostly children, were injured and are now receiving treatment in the hospital.”

Another resident, Bot Rwang, expressed shock over the incident, saying, “We are grateful to God that the family members in the house escaped death, as the entire structure collapsed with debris all over.”

Following that, the government shut down the school and warned residents to follow safety guidelines when building structures.
