FG arraigns Suswam over illegal possession of arms
The Federal Government has arraigned a former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, before a court in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Suswam who governed Benue between 2007-2015 was arraigned in court on Friday on three counts of illegal possession of firearms.
It would be recalled that Suswam was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in June, over a petition by a high ranking politician, alleging that he (Suswam) was harbouring one Terwase Akwaza, a.k.a ‘Ghana’.Police had declared Akwaza wanted, following the killing of about 17 people in Zaki Biam, Benue State, in March last year.
The notorious killer and kidnapper, Ghana, had also been alleged to be part of those behind incessant killings in many Benue villages.
Suswam is also accused of being part of those behind the incessant killings in many Benue villages.
According to a source, the DSS, working on the petition by the top politician, placed Suswam on a closer watch until he was invited on Tuesday and had since been held in custody.
This is not the first time Suswam is being arrested for crime related activities.
In February 2017, Suswam was arrested by the DSS over claimes that arms and ammunition and other incriminating items were recovered from his apartment.
