Dino Melaye dumps APC for PDP
Embattled Senator Dino Melaye has defected to PDP. He announced his defection during plenary section on Wednesday, May 30th.
Dino who was hospitalized after his faceoff with the police last month, appeared on the floor of the senate in a white attire and a bandage wrapped around his neck.
In April, Melaye was arrested after presenting himself to the police to answer questions on allegations of sponsoring a criminal gang.
On entering the upper chamber, he requested the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to direct the Sergeant-At-Arms, to provide him a comfortable seat at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) wing in the Chamber, pending when he would fully recover.
The lawmaker said that his request was informed by the circumstance of his present health condition, pointing out that he was not comfortable to seat at the All Progressives Congress (APC) wing of the Chamber.
Though some APC members fought to stop the traumatized senator from having his request granted, the President of the Senate, noted that since the demand was anchored on the health of their colleague, he had no option than to allow him to sit where he believed would facilitate his quick recovery.
