Calabar, Cross River State, 1st November, 2024 -The Cross River State Police Command has announced a restriction of movement across all 18 Local Government Areas in preparation for the Local Government Elections scheduled for November 2, 2024. In a press release signed by SP Ugbo Irene, ANIPR Police Public Relations Officer, this directive, issued by Commissioner of Police CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah, will be in effect from 12:00 AM to 6:00 PM on election day.
The restriction aims to facilitate a smooth and secure electoral process, allowing citizens to cast their votes peacefully. During this period, only individuals on essential duties—including medical personnel, accredited election observers, and security personnel—will be permitted to move within restricted areas. All other movements within the state will be prohibited.
The Police Command urges the public to comply with this directive and to refrain from any activities that could disrupt the peace or hinder the electoral process. To ensure safety and security throughout the election period, the Police will collaborate with other security agencies to enforce these restrictions.
Commissioner Grimah calls on all citizens to remain law-abiding and cooperate fully with law enforcement. He reaffirms the Command’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and credible election in Cross River State.
