CREATING GOOD SCRIPTS BY AMINA; DAY 2 WITH THE BREAKTHROUGH ACTION NIGERIA MEDIA SEMINAR – UYO

Creating a radio script is a creative process.

WHY I NEED TO SCRIPT

1. You will have more control on your content.

2. You may forget what you planned to say.

3. You establish and maintain the flow.

To get the best out of your script, you have to;

  1. Write your script.
  2. Put it away for a couple of days or hours 3.
  3. Then review it with fresh eyes.
  4. Write in the active voice. Don’t switch back and forth between past and present
  5. Paint pictures with your words
  6. Write the way you speak.

In presenting your script, you have to do the following;

  1. Read the radio script aloud.
  2. Be energetic and write for ear.
  3. Perform your script.
  4. You can’t force people to listen to you.
  5. You have to win them over.
  6. Address the listener directly.
  7. And use our and we.

Effective communication

Audience Feedback

  1. Audience feedback is a critical part of the communication process.
  2. It allows us as communicators to understand how our message is being received and how it is being interpreted.
  3. We then have the ability to adjust our message and improve its effectiveness
  4. It can help us share better info with the people who need it.

HOW TO ACHIEVE THE ABOVE MENTIONED

  1. We listen.
  2. Listening to your audience means making sure there are open lines of communication between your audience and you.
  3. Show your audience you are interested in what they have to say.

MEANS OF COMMUNICATING WITH YOUR AUDIENCE

  1. Emails
  2. SMS
  3. Social media post
  4. Call in programs
  5. Toll free lines (321) for now only on Airtel SIM. (health talks)

ASK FOR IT

If you do not provide any easy avenue for your audience to share their views, experiences, opinions, displeasure, support, ask questions, then you won’t know what your audience are thinking.
