Consistent Advocacy On Menstrual Health, Hygiene Practices will Prevent infections,Save Lives, Rev. Eyoanwan Otu Tells SCI

Wife of the Governor of Cross River State,Reverend Eyoanwan Bassey Otu has enlisted her office readiness to join in spreading the school to school awareness on the importance of good menstrual hygiene habits among the girl child across the eighteen local Government Areas of the State.

The Governor’s wife was speaking when she met with the team from Save the Children International ( SCI) in her office to discuss the importance of menstrual hygiene and sustainable menstruation management.

Reverend Otu underscored the importance of the work SCI is doing and its advocacy efforts to improve awareness on the use of reusable sanitary pads and other sustainable menstrual hygiene products.

According to the Governor’s wife who was represented by her Special Adviser on Projects, Programs and Events, Dr Inyang Asibong, “Menstrual hygiene is a serious issue that is often stigmatized and not talked about enough”,saying the good news was that girls in Cross River State are in safe hands due to her commitment to take up the challenge.

She commended SCI’s untiring efforts in ensuring women and adolescent girls in the State have access to reusable sanitary pads across the three senatorial districts.

Also speaking at the event, the Governor’s wife Senior Special Adviser on Administration, Dr. Comfort Oko, expressed the support of her Office for the organization’s work to change the girl child’s story in Cross River State.

Present at the high level meeting were Abejide Oluseyi, SCI Ogoja Field Manager; Mr. Eyimofe Sam from SCI as well as top government appointees from the office of Wife of Governor.
