by The governor of Edo State, H. E. Governor Obaseki has defected to the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP). The declaration was made this afternoon at the state Secretariat of People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in Benin city, Edo State.
The governor took this step after he deserted the All Progressives Congress on Tuesday.
This is coming a week after he was screened out and said to be unqualified for the APC primary election in view of the September 19 governorship poll in Edo State.
Professor Ayuba, while presenting the committee’s report, made it known to the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and other leaders at the party’s secretariat that Governor Obaseki and two others people were screened out, meanwhile, he noted that Ize-Iyamu and two other aspirants were approved to participate in the primaries.
He further mentioned that Governor Obaseki was declared not qualified due to the fact that his HSC and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates were “defective”.
Some individuals and groups who thought that the disqualification of the governor could be as a result of the lingering unresolved dispute between him and his predecessor.
Although Governor Obaseki had taken some reconciliatory moves before the screening exercise, he stated in an interview with pressmen that he does not expect to get justice.
