Breaking: INEC declares Senator Prince Bassey Otu of APC winner of Cross River governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Senator Prince Bassey Otu and candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of governorship election in Cross River State.

Prof. Jeddy Charles, INEC Returning Officer made the declaration on Monday in Calabar at the Cross River State Collation Centre.

The INEC returning officer said that the APC candidate polled a total of 258,619 votes to defeats his closest opponent Senator Sandy Onor, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 179,636 votes.

The returning therefore, said:” Prince Otu of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes in the election is hereby declared winner and returned elected”.

The result indicated that APC won in 15 out of the 18 local government areas of the state.
