Although I was a Muslim, I got my Special Effects Dreams in the Church – Hakeem Effect Onilogbo

In an Interview with Mrs. Temitope Duker a.k.a Boss Lady during the show Serenade with the Boss Lady on fad93.1fm, the popular and multiple award winning Special Effect Makeup Artist in Nigeria, Hakeem Onilogbo revealed how he began his journey as a Special Effect Makeup artist.


According to Onilogbo, he was born a Muslim but, got dreams and visions about his Special Effect Makeup skills when he visited a church. He explained how a man always visited him in his dreams to teach him. Though his sibling never believed his dreams.
He further mentioned that he had studied industrial signage in 1997 thereby becoming a professional painter. This was why his church drama group dimmed him fit to handle the special effects for their presentation and that became a spring board for his artistic work.
Since then, Hakeem has won several awards including African Movies Viewer’s Choice Award (AMVCA) 2017 and 2018 consecutively, African Movie Academy Award (AMAA) also consecutively and Best Of Nollywood Award among many others.

Further interview with Mrs. Temitope Duker a.k.a Boss Lady also revealed that he has trained a lot of persons, but suddenly stopped because according to Hakeem “A learner cannot be a teacher” and added that he need to be well vested with knowledge before he can train others.
