Aisha Buhari Addresses Nigerian Women As they Celebrate International Women’s Day

As women all over the world celebrate the International women’s day with the theme “I am Generation Equality: Realising women’s right.” The theme is aligned with United Nation Women’s new multigenetional campaign, Generation Equality, which marks the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and platform for Action, the most progressive roadmap for the empowerment of women and girls everywhere.

The international Women’s Day is also a time to ponder and the progress and achievements made and celebrate acts of courage and willfulness by women, who have made extraordinary marks in the history of their countries. The world have endeavoured, but no country has achieved gender equality.

The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari stated on her social media handle while addressing women that as they celebrate they should never cease to do the good works as mothers and home makes “The occasion of International Women’s Day is not only meant to celebrate our achievements but to remind us of the need to continue playing those crucial roles towards making the world a better place for humanity. I therefore call on Nigerian Women as mothers to pay more attention to children’s well-being in our changing society. As mothers, wives, sisters, role models and equal stakeholders in project humanity, we look forward to more opportunities for the realization of our full potentials for an equitable, just and prosperous society.”
