The Special Presidential Investigation Panel for Recovery of Public Property has directed the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mr Mele Kyari to appear before it next Tuesday.
Chairman of the presidential panel, Chief Okoi Obono Oblah, confirmed to newsmen on Sunday that the NNPC boss was summoned to give explanations over the alleged shortfall in funds that accrued from renewal of three oil-mining licenses.
The investigation followed a petition that was lodged before the panel by human rights lawyer, Mr Femi Falana, SAN.
The presidential panel said it was investigating alleged $1.8billion owed the Federal Government by Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (ExxonMobil), with respect to Oil Mining Licences.
