Due to the wicked act of rape and killing of girls which is currently sweeping across the nation, The Osun State House of Assembly has passed into law a bill recommending life imprisonment for rapists in the state.
According to the Speaker of the Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, who made this known to press men, a 14-year jail term now awaited anyone who attempted rape in the state.
Furthermore, Owoeye stated that the passage of the bill into law was to help in curtailing the series of rape that had become rampant in the state.
“The bill having passed through evaluation at a public hearing was later considered by the House Committee before passing the third reading for approval” he added.
Owoeye also mentioned that the bill would charge the law enforcement agents to prosecute rape cases logically and urged the youths to abstain from the ugly practice as no one caught will be pardoned but will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
