An order has been issued by the Federal Government instructing that all orientation camps in the country where corps members are currently undergoing the three weeks compulsory Orientation training be closed immediately.
The orientation exercise which kicked off on the 10th of March was supposed to end on the 30th of March 2020 for the just mobilised graduates for the 2020 Batch ‘A’ National Youth Corps members. Youth corps members subsequently are supposed to be posted to their places of primary assignments.
In a statement sent to all the State Coordinators (SCs) it is observed that the closure is due to the ravaging and spreading Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, the unexpected end of the orientation camp by the federal government is in a bit to contain the spread of the virus because the NYSC also accommodate foreign students.
The statement reads as follows “To all SCs; I have received instructions to inform you to bring the ongoing Orientation Course to an immediate shutdown; effective tomorrow on account of the rapid-fire spread of COVID-19. Effect Primary Assignment postings this night. All necessary financial entitlements will be settled in the early hours of tomorrow.
You are to, by any means, reach Corps Employers on this development; immediately.”
This reason for this sudden changes is as a result of situationsfar beyond what can be controlled. The fast changes which are taking place in many countries warranting social distancing between persons and isolation of persons on account of COVID-19 present no other option; but to close the camps because of the large aggregation of persons in close social contacts.

The statement concluded with an immediate call for action, which entails closure of all orientation camps and posting of Corps members to their places of primary assignments.
