The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Adeniran Akinwale, has urged the youth to avoid joining a planned protest on October 1, warning that such actions could be taken over by troublemakers.
In a conversation with The PUNCH in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, Akinwale advised that peaceful dialogue, not illegal actions, should be used to address concerns. He emphasized the importance of maintaining calm and avoiding any disruptions that could lead to chaos.
“We are asking people not to protest, as it may be hijacked by criminals, which would benefit no one,” the commissioner said. “We will continue to engage stakeholders and reach out to the youth, reminding them not to take the law into their hands.”
Akinwale added that with the current economic challenges, both in Nigeria and globally, everyone must make sacrifices and seek peaceful solutions. He stressed that pursuing legality through unlawful actions is not the way forward.
