Spotify has upgraded its AI DJ feature to include voice command functionality, allowing users to personalize their listening experience in real time with spoken requests.

In an effort to make its AI DJ more interactive and intuitive, Spotify is introducing a new feature that allows users to control their listening experience using voice commands. This enhancement enables Premium subscribers to request specific songs, switch music genres, or change the overall mood of their playlist—simply by speaking to the AI DJ.

The updated voice-enabled AI DJ is currently rolling out in over 60 markets, though it’s initially supported only in English.

Previously, Spotify’s AI DJ would automatically curate and play songs with occasional commentary between tracks. Now, the feature becomes more dynamic and user-driven, letting listeners personalize their music on the fly.

Users can activate the AI DJ by typing “DJ” into the Spotify search bar. To make a request, hold the DJ button located at the bottom right of the screen and speak your command. Want to change the playlist’s vibe without saying anything specific? Just tap the DJ button once to shuffle the mood.

Spotify first launched its AI DJ in February 2023 in the U.S. and Canada, expanding the feature globally in August 2023. A Spanish-speaking version of the AI DJ was also introduced later that year.

This update builds on Spotify’s growing suite of AI-powered features, including the ability to create custom playlists using text prompts—a tool that further enhances user personalization and engagement.
