The Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, has ordered an investigation into a fatal incident involving Inspector Mohammed Bulama, a member of the Police Mobile Force in Damaturu, the state capital.
According to a statement from Yobe Police Command spokesperson, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the incident happened on September 29, 2024, at around 6:20 p.m. Bulama, 38, got into an argument with Abdulmalik Dauda, also known as Baksha, 39, over an unresolved issue in the Zango area of Damaturu. The argument escalated, and Bulama allegedly stabbed Dauda in the chest. Bulama also sustained head injuries during the fight.
Bulama was arrested at the ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters, where he had gone for safety. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has begun an investigation, and Bulama is in custody awaiting disciplinary action and prosecution.
Commissioner Ahmed condemned the incident, expressed condolences to Dauda’s family, and promised a full investigation to ensure justice.
“The Nigeria Police Force will not tolerate misconduct from its officers, and justice will be served,” he said.
