The Defence Headquarters has announced the killing of a notorious terrorist leader in Jigawa State, Mai Hijabi, during a military operation this week. This is part of the military’s ongoing efforts to weaken terrorist groups in Northern Nigeria.
According to Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, 165 terrorists were killed, and 238 suspects were arrested during the operation. Troops also rescued 188 kidnapped victims.
Buba added that the military destroyed a large portion of the terrorists’ combat capabilities and arrested 35 suspected oil thieves in the Niger Delta, preventing the theft of oil worth over N688 million.
The troops also recovered weapons, ammunition, vehicles, and other items during their operations across various regions in the country.
