Manchester United have reportedly set a £40 million asking price for Marcus Rashford following his impressive loan spell at Aston Villa, as Barcelona rekindle their interest in the England forward.
Rashford, 27, joined Aston Villa on loan in February 2025 after falling out of favor under United manager Ruben Amorim. During his time at Villa Park, he has contributed significantly, scoring four goals and providing five assists in 17 appearances, helping the team secure a sixth-place finish in the Premier League and qualification for the Europa League.
Despite Villa’s interest in making the move permanent, Rashford is reportedly seeking a club competing in the Champions League, making Barcelona an attractive option. The Catalan giants have expressed interest in the forward, although financial constraints may pose a challenge in meeting United’s valuation and Rashford’s current £350,000-a-week salary.
Manchester United are eager to offload Rashford to alleviate financial pressures following a disappointing season that saw them miss out on European competition. The club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League has led to a significant drop in revenue, prompting a squad overhaul under new management.
As part of this restructuring, United have reportedly agreed to sign Wolves forward Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million, with the Brazilian set to take over Rashford’s iconic No.10 shirt.
While Rashford’s future remains uncertain, his resurgence at Aston Villa and desire to play at the highest level have reignited interest from top European clubs. Whether a deal with Barcelona materializes or another suitor emerges, the coming weeks will be pivotal in determining the next chapter of Rashford’s career.
