The official death toll has risen to 16, with authorities cautioning that the number may increase as search and rescue operations continue. Among the missing are two young girls, aged one and five, who were swept away by the floodwaters. Divers are actively searching areas where water levels remain dangerously high.
In response to the tragedy, President Javier Milei’s office declared three days of national mourning to honor the victims. The government has also approved emergency reconstruction aid totaling 10 billion pesos (approximately $9.2 million) to assist in recovery efforts.
