The Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Mercy Nsor, has outlined key achievements since taking office, including the restoration of electricity and water supply at the council headquarters, improvement of working conditions, procurement of land for development projects, and skills training for youths.
During a recent phone-in program on FADFM’s political show, Hon. Mrs. Nsor shared her administration’s accomplishments with listeners. According to her, “We’ve restored lights and water at our council headquarters, and this has greatly improved our working conditions.” She emphasized that the working conditions within the council have improved significantly, stating, “Our staff are now working in a more conducive environment.”
The Chairman highlighted efforts to procure land for building materials and markets, which is expected to boost economic activities in the area. She also mentioned training programs for youths in various fields, including cosmetology, aimed at equipping them with skills for self-reliance. “We’ve trained youths in various skills, including cosmetology, to empower them to become self-reliant,” she said.
Hon. Mrs. Nsor noted that she enjoys a good working relationship with her councilors and stakeholders, which has contributed to the success of her administration’s initiatives.
During the interactive segment of the program, callers offered suggestions and raised concerns. They urged the Chairman to address issues such as rent escalation, the influx of Cameroonian nationals into the LGA, and enforcement of traffic regulations to ensure road users obey traffic lights. Callers also recommended that the Chairman organize town hall meetings to engage residents and gather feedback on governance.
