by Veteran Nollywood Actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, has given reasons why he hates being referred to as a “legend”. During an interview on Curiosity Made Me Ask, he made it known that he sees the title as a “scam”.
According to him, he believes actors like Olu Jacobs, Pete Edochie deserve the title more than him because he is not yet in the category of being called a legend.
He said, “I think all those legend things are a scam. I have my legends like Uncle Olu Jacobs and Uncle Peter; those are our ancestors, our legends, i was still watching him when he was saying Ribena children are healthy children. So I don’t subscribe to that. I think it is a scam when they call me a legend because they are trying to relegate me to that neighbourhood of retired people or people who should be nearing retirement. So, no, I don’t subscribe to it”.
He also said that anytime he is referred to as a legend, he sees himself as an old man who is looking forward to go on retirement.
