GROSS RIVER STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE
Re: Planned Protest to “End Bad Government”
The Cross River State Police Command. Under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police Gyogon A. Grimah, PSC, FCAI, extends its heartfelt appreciation to Cross Riverians, all residents, traditional and religious leaders, good-spirited citizens, friends of the Police, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), other sister security agencies, and the Cross River State Government led by Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, the executive Governor of Cross River State for the exceptional cooperation and collaboration experienced across various domains.
Cross River State, affectionately known as “Paradise” or “Canaan City,” has a well-documented history of being a peace-loving state. This legacy of peace must be maintained at all levels.
In light of the planned protest to “End Bad Government,” the Police Command earnestly advises parents and guardians to counsel their children and wards to engage in diligently constructive activities that promote the growth and overall welfare of our beloved state.
It is important to recall the unfortunate breakdown of law and order during the 2020 “End SARS” protest, which resulted in the tragic loss of life and the destruction of public and private properties. While the right to protest is an integral aspect of our democratic society, it is crucial that these rights are exercised responsibly to ensure continued progress and
development.
The Commissioner of Police assures all residents that comprehensive proactive measures have been implemented, in collaboration with sister agencies, to prevent any form of violent protest or actions that contravene the laws of the land.
At this juncture, the Commissioner of Police calls on all Cross Riverians and residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or movements of individuals or groups in their Communities.
