Cross River Govt Rebuffs PDP Chair’s Claims.

The Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Darlington Edem, has dismissed claims made by the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Venatius Ikem, on the performance of the state government.

In an interview on FADFM Calabar on Thursday, Edem described Ikem’s comments as misguided and lacking insight into the workings of the state government.

“The PDP Chairman is not in the right place to speak on the administration’s performance. It’s the citizens who are best placed to do so,” Edem said.

Edem, who was reacting to Ikem’s recent assertion that the governor was doing nothing meaningful, except keeping Calabar clean and employing thugs, urged the PDP Chairman to focus on resolving internal conflicts within his party rather than criticizing the government’s efforts.

“He should go around and see what the governor is doing in all parts of the state.

Rather than trying to talk down on the efforts of the governor, he should focus on settling the internal wrangling in his party,” Edem advised.

Edem declined to engage Ikem further, saying he wouldn’t want to join issues with someone who lacks knowledge of the governor’s initiatives and achievements.

The development comes on the heels of the governor’s second-year anniversary, which has sparked mixed reactions from stakeholders in the state.
