Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has been banned from driving for two years and fined after accumulating multiple speeding offences in his luxury vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce and a Lamborghini.
The 24-year-old French international, who joined Chelsea from Leicester City in a £70 million deal in August 2022, has faced challenges with injuries during his tenure at the club. Chelsea has adopted a cautious approach to his return, limiting his playtime to once a week to prevent further injuries.
Despite these setbacks, Fofana remains a key figure in Chelsea’s defensive lineup. The club continues to support him as he works towards regaining full fitness and contributing to the team’s success in the Premier League.
This driving ban adds to Fofana’s recent off-field issues. In December 2022, he was involved in a car accident where his Lamborghini struck EastEnders actor Dean Gaffney on King’s Road in Chelsea, West London. Gaffney suffered a broken collarbone after being hit in the midriff and catapulted into the air. Emergency services responded promptly, and Gaffney was treated at the hospital. Fofana passed a breathalyser test at the scene, and authorities did not hold him responsible for the incident.
As Fofana serves his driving ban, Chelsea fans and management will be hoping he can focus on his rehabilitation and return to form on the pitch.
