Carlo Ancelotti & Real Madrid Reach Exit Agreement Ahead of La Liga Finale

Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly set to depart Real Madrid at the conclusion of the 2024–25 season, having reached a verbal agreement with the club. This decision follows Real Madrid’s exit from the Champions League and a loss in the Copa del Rey final. Ancelotti, who returned to Madrid in 2021 and became the club’s most decorated manager with 15 titles, is expected to take over as Brazil’s national team manager until the end of the 2026 World Cup. An official announcement regarding his departure is anticipated before the end of the La Liga season, potentially after the upcoming El Clásico.

Despite these reports, Ancelotti has publicly denied making any decision to leave Real Madrid. In a press conference, he stated, “I’ve absolutely NOT decided to leave Real Madrid… I hope to stay for FOUR more years, same as president Florentino Pérez.” He emphasized that any decision about his departure would not be made unilaterally, suggesting that the club’s leadership would have the final say.

The situation has led to speculation about potential successors, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso emerging as a leading candidate. Alonso’s coaching philosophy, which emphasizes youth development, contrasts with Real Madrid’s recent approach, potentially signaling a shift in the club’s future direction.

As the season progresses, the dynamics between Ancelotti and Real Madrid’s management will be closely watched, especially with crucial matches ahead that could influence the final decision regarding his tenure.
