The need for every vehicle plying the road can never be over emphasized.
A taxi, Audi to be precise loaded with passengers was gutted by fire at about 1pm on Thursday, this happened just at the entrance of Mobil filling station along Murtala Huhammed highway Calabar.
The taxi driver after touting for passengers navigated through the Mobil filling station to find his way to the highway, just then a massive explosion was heard as fire was seen burning already under the vehicle. Passengers also struggled to find their way out of the burning vehicle as some tumbled over others.
The driver was confused and stranded because he had no means of putting out the fire. In order to prevent the spread of the fire and the impending hazard it can cause to the filling station and its surrounding, a pump attendant from the filling station hurriedly picked up a fire extinguisher and the fire outbreak was averted and the vehicle salvaged.
It is expedient for every driver to own a fire extinguisher and also ensure that their vehicles are intact before hitting the road.
The Federal Road Safety Commission are also encouraged to emphasize the need for fire extinguishers and also prosecute everyone who drives without an extinguisher.
