Breakthrough ACTION Nigeria’s 16 Days Activism Seminars Illuminate Cross River Schools on Gender-Based Violence

In a proactive move towards fostering awareness and combating gender-based violence, USAID-Breaktgrough Action Nigeria (BA-N) recently organized impactful seminars in two schools in Calabar South LGA (PINN Margaret Secondary School & Government Secondary School, Uwanse), Cross River State.

The events were part of the global initiative, the “16 Days Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.”

Students at the schools engaged in insightful discussions led by the Cross River State Social Mobilization Officer, BA-N, Mrs. Mercy Asuquo, highlighting the importance of recognizing and addressing gender-based violence.

The seminars encompassed a range of topics, from understanding the root causes of such violence to promoting a culture of respect and equality.

Asuquo emphasized the significance of educating the younger generation, empowering them to become advocates for change.

Interactive sessions encouraged students to share their thoughts and experiences, creating a platform for open dialogue.

By targeting secondary schools, BA-N aimed to instill values of respect and equality early on, fostering a generation that actively opposes gender-based violence.

The seminars served as a beacon, illuminating the path towards a society free from the shackles of violence against women and girls.

BA-N’s commitment to creating a lasting impact through education echoes the global call to end gender-based violence, marking a crucial step forward in Nigeria’s efforts to build a safer and more equitable future.
