Arsenal Stun Real Madrid as Declan Rice Fires in Two Free-Kick Masterpieces

Arsenal delivered a stunning 3-0 victory over Champions League holders Real Madrid in the first leg of their quarter-final clash at the Emirates Stadium. Declan Rice was the standout performer, scoring two exceptional free kicks—his first ever at club level—making Champions League history as the first player to net two direct free kicks in a knockout match.

The game started with Arsenal dominating possession and creating early chances, with Bukayo Saka earning both free kicks that Rice expertly converted. Mikel Merino added a third in the 75th minute to cap a complete team performance.

Real Madrid struggled to impose themselves, with their key players, including Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, neutralized by Arsenal’s disciplined defense. A late red card to Eduardo Camavinga further compounded Madrid’s frustration.

Manager Mikel Arteta praised his team’s intensity and focus, while Rice called the night “unreal” and one of the best moments of his career. Arsenal take a commanding lead into the second leg at the Bernabeu, though they remain cautious of Madrid’s famous comeback record.
