Amotekun Rescues Five Kidnapped Victims in Ondo, Foils ₦150 Million Ransom Demand

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, has successfully rescued five kidnapped individuals from various locations across the state without the payment of the ₦150 million ransom demanded by their abductors.

According to Amotekun Commander Adetunji Adeleye, the rescue operations were carried out in two separate incidents. On May 6, a victim abducted along the Ikare-Owo Road was rescued despite sustaining machete injuries. Four days later, on May 10, four individuals kidnapped at Iromeh along the Lagos-Ore Expressway were also freed. In both cases, the kidnappers had demanded substantial ransoms ₦50 million for the first victim and ₦100 million for the group of four but the victims were rescued without any payment.

Commander Adeleye emphasized that the successful rescues were the result of intensified patrols and forest combing strategies implemented by Amotekun operatives. He noted that over 12 cases of armed robbery and kidnapping have been thwarted by the corps, particularly along the Ondo-Ogun state boundary.

One of the rescued victims, Ayo Adeyeye, recounted his harrowing experience, stating that he was abducted while returning from his farm. He and the other victims were subjected to harsh conditions, including threats of death if the ransom was not paid. Adeyeye expressed gratitude to Amotekun for their timely intervention, which led to their freedom without any ransom being paid.

The Amotekun Corps continues to urge residents to provide timely and credible information to aid in their efforts to combat criminal activities in the state. The agency remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens in Ondo State.
