Mr. Edwin Edem Ephraim – the Saxophonist, popularly known back then as ‘Eleniyan’ which means ‘People’s choice’ or ‘Man of the People’; was born on the 12th of May, 1963 in the city of Ibadan, Lagos state.

He attended Holy Trinity Grammar School, Ibadan in the year 1975-1980; then moved onto Ondo state College of Health and Science where he concluded his HSC program in 1982. He also attended Nigerian Defense Academy, Lagos in 1986 and obtained a degree in Music from the University of Lagos in 2001.

His love for music started as far as his Secondary school days where he used to play instruments and sing along with his friends in school at every opportunity they had. He has been in the music industry for over 30 years.

The name ‘Eleniyan’ was given to him by Fela Anikulapo-Kuti himself when he used to play at ‘The Shrine’ and ‘The Positive Band’ with Dede Mabiaku back then in 2006, at This Day Magazine’ Lagos Carnival.

He moved down to Calabar, Cross River State, in 2007 to pursue his music career fully as he centered more on circular music. He played his saxophone in different occasions and shows held at Cultural center, Marina Resort and U.J Esuene stadium where he held a contract for five (5) years. He had also played for festivals such as the Calabar Carnival, and many other concerts that were held in Calabar and Lagos.

He also played for renowned popular artistes such as Dare Adelaide, TuFace Idibia, Weird MC and even foreign rap artiste, Snoop Dogg.

In 2011, Eleniyan decided to switch from playing in circular music to Gospel as he believed he could reach the world better with Gospel performances. He also added that he believes that God brought him into this world to minister to people via Gospel music so he is determined to pursue his music career in that area.

Prophet Edwin Edem, as he is now known, has played the sax in different churches such as Christ Diplomat Church – which was where he performed his first Gospel ministration – Dunamis church, Christ Pentecostal Mission and many others located in Calabar.

He stated in an interview with Fad360 TV, that his vision is to open up a school where he will be privileged to teach and train young people on all that generally involve Gospel music and even dancing. He also advised the young people to first indulge their talents in anything that gives God praise.

Prophet Edwin not only plays the Saxophone, but also plays other instruments like the Mouth Organ and Tambourine. He claims to also be a good dancer and singer.
